A Note from the Principal
There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said, but thank you once again to our incredible community. Together we made remote learning and transitioning back to onsite learning a successful one for our students. We are surviving an experience that none of us could have imagined in our lives and our students and staff are stronger for it. New connections with families have been formed and strengthened, new ways of learning have been explored, tested to the extreme and adapted, and we all have some incredible stories to tell our grandchildren one day...
This has been a great opportunity for us as a staff to stop and reflect on what we value, what we identify as critical to student success, and make changes where needed. We have been forced to look at education in a different way and we know when we reach the other side of the pandemic, we, as educators will be stronger, wiser and more creative than ever before.
Thank you again to our community for the support it has shown to our staff and other SES families. There are many stories out there that most of us never hear. If at any time you feel your child is struggling academically or emotionally, please reach out to classroom teachers, social workers, or administration for support.
On behalf of the faculty and administration at SES, thank you for all you do to support your child and our school and we wish each of our students and their families a very peaceful Thanksgiving.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. VICKI BLACK - Emerson Electric Teaching Award
On behalf of the students, administration, and faculty of Scott Elementary School, congratulations to Pre-K teacher Vicki Black for being named an award winner of the Emerson Electric Excellence in Teaching. The award recognizes 100 teachers in the St. Louis area for displaying excellence in their field. Mrs. Black displays this excellence on a daily basis. Her passion for teaching and for her students as individuals is unbridled. We could not be more proud of Mrs. Black and this prestigious accomplishment. Congratulations Mrs. Vicki Black!
Welcome to our new Scott Elementary Students and Families!

Please feel free to reach out to any staff member or the school office if there is anything we can assist with. This year brings new challenges for students and families, please know we are here to help you in any way possible.
Second Semester (Jan 4 - May 21)
Second semester is fast approaching and an email has been sent to all families to choose between “in person” learning or “remote” learning.
Parents only need to fill out the survey if they want to change their child’s placement for the second semester. You will need to complete a form for every child attending Scott Elementary, if you wish to make a change from the current mode of learning.
The form to complete is attached here:
Decisions must be made by December 1 and the placement will be in effect until the end of the 20-21 school year.
We will begin to assign teachers in the month of December and make parents aware of the teacher placement prior to the holiday break in December.
If your child is an “in person” learner and is required to quarantine for a period of time, requested school work will be sent home for the student. There will not be remote learning available for in person students during absences as these teachers have in-person teaching responsibilities during the school day.

If your child is sick, has a doctor appointment or unable to attend zoom/school for the day, please contact the office at 618-746-4738 so we can mark your child as excused for the day. If we do not hear from parents/guardians regarding an absence, it will be an unexcused absence. Emailing or contacting the teacher in addition to the office is fine, but contacting the teacher only at times results in not all messages forwarded to the office to excuse an absence. You can leave a message on the attendance line at any time during the day or night.
If choose to leave a message on the school answering system, please leave Your child’s name
