The release of the 2019 Illinois State Report Card represents the 2nd year of Il-EMPOWER, the states accountability system developed as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The Illinois ESSA plan mandates that every public school in the state receive a summative rating on an annual basis. The 2019 designation is based on a variety of factors, including assessment scores, attendance, grade data, climate survey participation, and graduation data (when relevant).

We are proud to announce that Scott Elementary School received a Summative Designation of "Exemplary," the highest possible designation given to schools

We recognize that this designation is a team effort, including students, staff, and our wonderful families. We could not be more proud of our students' efforts that they bring to school with them on a daily basis. We are also proud of our teachers and support staff for the efforts they display to help your children grow academically and socially. Lastly, we are thankful for all of our families at Scott Elementary who help put their children in the best possible opportunities for success and for working with us so closely. From all of us at Scott Elementary, thank you for making this such a wonderful school!

A Note from the Principal

Ms. Riechmann

We would like to take a moment to thank you for all you do to help make Scott Elementary a great place for students. We are very appreciative of the terrific turnout at Parent-Teacher conferences last month and for the feedback that was provided on the surveys. SES is a special place in large part because of the support that you provide us on a daily basis. On behalf of the faculty and administration at SES, thank you for all you do to support your child and our school.

You will see that November and December are busy months at Scott Elementary. Please take a close look at the calendar  above and the information on the accompanying pages to see all of the planned activities. Among those events is the annual Veterans Day Assembly on November 8th which is open to all families. The assembly is one of the most special events of the year at SES due to the students and families that we are proud to serve. Parents and families may attend the 2:30 pm assembly as we thank our veterans for the tremendous sacrifices they have made for our country.

We do ask when parents are in the building for a performance etc., please do not check your children out early. If you have a medical appointment, please submit a signed medical note from the doctor. The last 15 minutes of the day is very crucial to students and teachers ensuring all homework assignments are with students.  Thank you!

Fall Back

Is Your Family Moving?

If your family is relocating to a new destination soon, please contact the school office (618-746-4738) regarding your child’s records.  Student records will be ready for a parent to pick up after school on the last day of attendance for your child.  SES requires one week advance notice to prepare records for the new school.  We cannot send records home with a student. Please be certain that all fees have been paid, lunch accounts are up-to-date, and all library books have been returned.

Congratulations to our outstanding October Students of the Month!
